Kate Steadman, LCPC
Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
Trauma-informed specialist
Trauma changes the way you see yourself, your relationships, and the world - often in ways you didn't choose and never deserved. My role is to help you make sense of those experiences with gentleness, patience, and deep respect for your pace.
I am a trauma-informed therapist dedicated to supporting individuals through complex PTSD, childhood trauma, attachment wounds, and painful life events. With a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I bring specialized training in trauma-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and attachment-based approaches to my work.
But what matters most is this:
I understand that trauma healing is not a straight line.
You don't have to rush. You don't have to be "strong." You don't have to tell your story before you're ready. You simply need a safe place to begin, and that is what I strive to offer.
My work is grounded in the belief that healing is possible - not only in the sense of reducing symptoms, but in opening the door to deeper self-understanding, resilience, and growth. Together, we move at a pace that honors your nervous system, your boundaries, and your natural capacity for healing.
Specialized Trauma Services
Trauma-Focused Therapy
Using evidence-based trauma-focused approaches, we work together to process traumatic experiences in a safe, structured way. This specialized therapy helps reduce symptoms of PTSD and trauma-related distress while building resilience and coping skills.
Post-Traumatic Growth
Healing isn't just about "getting past" what happened. It can also be a journey of discovering strengths you didn't know you had, making meaning from your experiences, and rebuilding a life that feels aligned with who you truly are.
My Systems-Based Approach
Trauma doesn't happen in a vacuum. It is shaped by - and shapes - relationships, families, communities, and environments. My systems-based approach helps us look at the full picture of your life so we can understand what contributed to your pain and what can support your healing.
Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, we explore how trauma affects:
- Your sense of safety
- Your identity and self-worth
- Your relationships and attachment patterns
- Your emotional responses and coping strategies
- Your place within your family or community
This holistic perspective allows us to uncover root causes while also recognizing the strengths, supports, and internal resources you already possess.
I integrate trauma-informed care principles with evidence-based modalities including:
My approach is gentle, collaborative, and centered on your comfort at every step.
